Best Neighborhoods Near Liberty Lake: Where Locals Love to Live

Liberty Lake has become one of the most desirable places to live in the Inland Northwest, and it's easy to see why. Located just east of Spokane and only about 20 minutes from downtown Coeur d'Alene, Liberty Lake offers the perfect balance of outdoor recreation, strong schools, newer homes, and convenient access to both Washington and Idaho. Whether you're relocating to the area, moving up to your dream home, or simply looking for a neighborhood that fits your lifestyle, there are several communities near Liberty Lake that stand out.

One of the most popular areas is Liberty Lake proper, especially neighborhoods surrounding the golf courses and the lake itself. Communities like River District, Rocky Hill, and the neighborhoods surrounding Liberty Lake Golf Course have seen significant growth over the past several years. Residents love the miles of walking trails, nearby parks, and easy access to Liberty Lake Regional Park. During the summer, you'll find locals paddleboarding on the lake, hiking the Liberty Lake Loop Trail, or spending the afternoon at one of the waterfront parks.

Just north of Liberty Lake, you'll find the growing community of Greenacres. While technically part of Spokane Valley, Greenacres offers larger lots, established neighborhoods, and a more relaxed feel while still being only minutes from Liberty Lake amenities. It's a great option for buyers who want a little more space without sacrificing convenience. Many homes here sit on larger parcels than you'll typically find in newer subdivisions, making it especially appealing for those wanting room for RV parking, shops, or simply more privacy.

Heading east toward Idaho, the western side of Post Falls has become increasingly popular with buyers who work in Spokane but want to take advantage of Idaho's lifestyle and tax benefits. Neighborhoods near Prairie Avenue and Spokane Street offer newer developments, parks, and excellent access to Interstate 90. Many residents appreciate being able to enjoy all that Liberty Lake offers while still living in North Idaho.

For buyers seeking a more upscale setting, the neighborhoods surrounding Liberty Lake's golf communities continue to attract attention. Areas near the Liberty Lake Golf Course and MeadowWood Golf Course feature beautiful custom homes, mature landscaping, and some of the area's most sought-after properties. These neighborhoods tend to attract homeowners who enjoy golf, walking trails, and a quieter atmosphere while still being close to shopping and dining.

Another hidden gem is the eastern portion of Spokane Valley near Barker Road. This area has experienced tremendous growth in recent years, with new construction communities, expanding retail options, and improved infrastructure. Many families are drawn to the area because of its proximity to schools, parks, and easy commuting options. It's one of the few places where buyers can still find newer homes without venturing too far from established amenities.

Of course, one of the best parts of living near Liberty Lake is the lifestyle. You can enjoy easy access to Spokane without feeling like you live in the city. Residents enjoy dozens of lakes, mountain recreation, golf courses, and hiking trails. In the winter, ski resorts like Mt. Spokane and Silver Mountain are less than an hour away, while summer weekends often include boating on Liberty Lake, Lake Coeur d'Alene, or the Spokane River.

And if you ask locals where to grab dinner near Liberty Lake, one spot you'll hear mentioned time and time again is The Pentagon Bistro. Known for its creative, politically themed cocktails, Mediterranean-inspired cuisine, lively atmosphere, and generous portions, it's become a favorite gathering place for both locals and visitors. The restaurant is one of three local establishments owned by the same family—with a fourth location on the way—and each one shares the same winning combination of great food, unique character, and tongue-in-cheek political humor.

Whether you're looking for waterfront living, golf course views, larger lots, or a family-friendly neighborhood close to schools and parks, the communities surrounding Liberty Lake offer something for nearly every buyer. As the Spokane-Coeur d'Alene corridor continues to grow, Liberty Lake remains one of the region's most sought-after places to call home—and for good reason.
