Living in Riverstone - Coeur d’Alene: Waterfront Living, Walkability, and Convenience

If you’ve spent any time in Coeur d’Alene, you’ve probably heard people mention Riverstone—and for good reason. It’s one of those neighborhoods that feels a little different from the rest of North Idaho in the best way possible.

Riverstone isn’t just a neighborhood—it’s a lifestyle. Built as a master-planned, waterfront community, it blends residential living with shops, restaurants, and outdoor spaces in a way that makes everyday life feel easy and connected.

And honestly, that’s what draws so many people here.

A Neighborhood Designed Around Real Life

One of the first things you notice about Riverstone is how walkable everything is. Instead of hopping in your car for every little errand, you can step outside and be at dinner, the movies, or a morning coffee within minutes.

The Village at Riverstone is the heart of it all—an open-air hub with restaurants, shops, a movie theater, and community gathering spaces woven together with pedestrian-friendly streets and landscaping.

It’s the kind of place where you’ll see people out walking in the evenings, meeting friends for a drink, or just enjoying the atmosphere.

Access to the Spokane River (This Is the Big One)

One of the most underrated things about Riverstone is its direct connection to the Spokane River.

There’s a trail system that follows the water, giving you a place to walk, bike, or just sit and unwind. Whether it’s a quick evening stroll or a weekend walk with coffee in hand, the river becomes part of your daily routine.

And while a lot of Coeur d’Alene neighborhoods have access to nature, Riverstone makes it incredibly accessible—no planning required.

Don’t forget the beaches! Riverstone includes a dog beach, a beautiful sandy beach and Atlas Waterfront beach & park.

Dining and Lifestyle Right Outside Your Door

Riverstone has quietly become one of the best spots in Coeur d’Alene for dining and social life—without the crowds of downtown.

You’ve got places like Vine & Olive, which brings a more elevated, wine-bar feel with small plates and a cozy atmosphere right in the heart of the village.

And then there’s Anthony’s at Coeur d’Alene, sitting right on the water with views over the pond and a classic Northwest seafood menu.

My personal favorite? Stopping for a handcrafted cocktail and appetizers at Bardenay Restaurant & Distillery and looking out at the water.

And the best part is, you don’t have to plan a whole night out—you can just walk!

Close to Everything (But Feels Tucked Away)

Another reason Riverstone works so well is its location.

You’re just a few minutes from downtown Coeur d’Alene and the lake, but it feels a little more relaxed and contained. It’s also incredibly convenient for anyone commuting toward Post Falls or Spokane and only 40 minutes to Spokane International Airport.

That balance—close to everything, but not in the middle of the chaos—is a big part of its appeal.

What It’s Like to Live Here

Riverstone tends to attract a mix of buyers - retirees, second-home owners, and people looking to simplify their lifestyle and downsize.

Most of the housing here is condos and townhomes, which means less maintenance and more time actually enjoying where you live. It’s especially appealing for:

  • People who want low-maintenance living
  • Retirees
  • Anyone who values walkability and convenience

Current prices in Riverstone range all the way from $475,000 for a 1 bed, 1 bath condo up to $2,700,000 for a luxury 4 bed, 4 bath home with stunning Spokane River views.

Is Riverstone the Right Fit?

Riverstone isn’t for everyone—and that’s actually a good thing.

If you’re looking for acreage, total privacy, or a more rural North Idaho feel, this isn’t your spot.

But if you want a lifestyle where you can walk to dinner, enjoy the river, and have everything you need just minutes away… Riverstone is hard to beat!
